CIVITAS is making strides to improve the condition of poorly maintained newsrack boxes that clutter New York City's sidewalks, yet we continue to see broken, vandalized and abandoned boxes throughout the city.
Here is what you can do to help:
- Please take a few minutes to call (212-788-7375) or email (jvacca@council.nyc.gov) Council Member James Vacca, chair of the NYC Council Transportation Committee, and ask him to schedule an oversight hearing to address newsrack box enforcement and regulation.
- Sign and circulate the newsrack petition. Let us know if you would like additional hard copies of the petition.
- Write a letter of support. You can find sample letters on the CIVITAS newsrack box webpage.
We would like to thank our community leaders and partners who have supported our efforts. You can view resolutions and letters of support at www.civitasnyc.org/newsrack-enforcement:
